A Home Away From Home for Families

Ronald McDonald House Long Island keeps Queens families close when children need hospital care most.

About Us

When a child is hospitalized at a nearby medical center, the last thing a family should worry about is where to sleep. Ronald McDonald House Long Island, located at 267-07 76th Ave in Queens, solves that problem directly: families stay just minutes from their child's bedside, at little or no cost, for as long as treatment requires.

The House earned a 4.9-star rating across 216 reviews, a number that speaks louder than any award. Families describe the staff and volunteers as genuinely warm, the shared spaces as calming, and the experience of cooking a meal in a real kitchen, not a hospital cafeteria, as unexpectedly healing. Volunteers regularly organize home-cooked dinners, holiday celebrations, and small moments of normalcy that mean everything during frightening times.

Every room, every shared meal, and every fundraising dollar directly reduces the distance between a sick child and the people who love them most. This is not a hotel. It is a community built around one of the hardest experiences a family can face, and it shows in everything from the front door to the family room.

What We Offer

Ronald McDonald House Long Island provides temporary lodging for families of children receiving medical treatment at nearby hospitals in the Queens and Long Island region. Families have access to fully equipped shared kitchens, private bedrooms, laundry facilities, and common living areas designed to feel like a real home rather than a waiting room.

Beyond a place to sleep, the House offers community programming including volunteer-prepared meals, family activity nights, and emotional support resources that help caregivers recharge. A dedicated staff coordinates with hospital social workers to ensure families are connected to the House as quickly as possible after a child's admission.

For those who want to give back, the House welcomes meal sponsorships, supply donations, volunteer shifts, and financial contributions. Every resource donated translates directly into nights a family does not have to choose between being present for their child and paying for lodging.

"This place was amazing! Such a huge help during a difficult time. My son was 7 weeks premature and stayed in the NICU for 30 days. They eliminated the stress of meal preparation and commuting almost 4 hrs round trip to see him every day. They allowed us to be with him and focus entirely on his recovery. The staff was very kind and friendly, the house had everything one would need, it was clean and comfortable."

"I am crying while writing this review because every time I think about our stay it touches my heart. The comfort we experienced at the RMDH is invaluable. Being close to our daughter in the NICU was incredible because we lived 40 minutes away. The facility is clean and organized. The daily meals were so helpful. Our eldest daughter loved the playroom, movie nights, toys, and games. Our stay is something I'll never forget and our family is forever grateful. Thank you so much! ♥️"
